Our Secondary Educational Support Department works collaboratively with students, families, and teachers to ensure learners can access the curriculum and participate meaningfully in school life.
We recognise that every student learns differently. Support is tailored to individual strengths and needs, with a focus on building independence, confidence, self-advocacy, and academic success.
BMIS follows a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) framework to identify and support students academically, socially, emotionally, and behaviourally. This approach allows us to provide:

Intensive, individualised support for students with more significant needs
Student progress is regularly monitored to ensure interventions and accommodations are effective and responsive to each learner’s development.

The Secondary Educational Support Department offers a range of programmes and support services, including:
Learning Support Class – Individualised support for students requiring targeted academic intervention and skill development.
English Language Learner (ELL) Class – Support for multilingual learners developing English proficiency across speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
Read 180 – A structured literacy intervention programme designed to improve reading comprehension, vocabulary, fluency, and decoding skills.
Math 180 – A targeted mathematics intervention programme focused on building foundational maths skills and confidence.
Barton Spelling and Reading System – A specialised, evidence-based programme designed to support students with dyslexia and literacy difficulties.
Support may be delivered through:
